Re: Kobe Bryant

Kobe Bryant has changed his jersey number from 8 to 24. Why? A few of the reasons in circulation:

    Sentimental factor

Bryant has said he wore 24 in high school, before switching to 33. The move to 24, he said, signals the beginning of the second leg of his career.

    Revenge factor

According to ESPN, Adidas is planning to re-release Bryant's first sneaker, the KB8, and rename it the Crazy 8. But Bryant now works for Nike. What will the number change do to the Crazy 8?

    Subtraction by addition

Bryant reportedly wore 8 because it was the sum of the digits of his number at Adidas' ABCD Camp -- 143 -- when he was in high school. Another way to distance himself from Adidas?

Or, it might simply be Bryant's way of one-upping Michael Jordan.

    Additional info

There has been a lot of buzz going around about Kobe's switch to the number 24.

Kobe's response to questions about the switch has been that he wanted a new number for the second half of his career.

#24 was Bryant's first high school number, before he switched to #33. Kobe has said that he wanted #24 as a rookie, but it was unavailable, as was #33, retired with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

    Re: Kobe Bryant

Kobe changed his number for a number of reasons if yall were true kobe fans you would know this he changed his number because its a new chapter in his career and he wanted it to be in a different number (he wanted #33 because it was his highschool number but as we all know that number is retired by the lakers) so he chose his JV number 24 and the last reason is a pretty neat thing lamar odom is # 7 and kobe is 24 so 24/7 haha

    Re: Kobe Bryant

Few friends of mine thinks it is to upstage Michael. Since some people along with Kobe think he is better, he decided to wear #24. Now, take for granted this aint my idea so dont bash me, but it could very well be the true reason behind a lot of false beliefs!
